I think it is good that Labour is not going to be in power and it is not because I like Conservatives or LibDem: when any party stays in power for too long it becomes lazy and corrupted. It also sooner or later start to introduce policies that will reduce political competition and secure its positions in the government. Russias last prime minister, who was in the gov. after the fall of the wall, once said: it seems like it does not matter if the ruling party is liberal or democratic-if it is in the power too long it will eventualy become CPSU( communist party of soviet union). Eample of it is todays Russia: uncertain laws, fake elections, galoping corruption and very, very weak opposition
Hi Dmitry: I think the statement you made, "when any party stays in power for too long it becomes lazy and corrupted." would be considered a sweeping statement. It may be generally true but not always the case. The ruling party (People's Action Party) of the Republic of Singapore has been in power since her independence till today, amounting to 45 years have not been reduced to laziness and corruption. By contrast, it takes a strong stance against corruption and focus strongly on how to continually improve her economy.
Although, I have to agree with you that if a party stays in power for too long it tends to introduce polices that limits political opposition.
On another note, hopefully all's going well for Economics. All the best for the upcoming AS exams!
